So I am a potential new player with a myriad of questions. If the way I word things comes off as anything or than curious and jaded, I apologize ahead of time as that is not my intent with my bluntness. I have had some HORRIBLE experiences in the past couple of years with other larps.
- The CASTLE rules are based on NERO/Alliance larp if I am not mistaken? Is there any risk of CASTLE larp just shutting down over a lawsuit or is there some history here I do not know?
- How large or small was the average weekend last season? PC-NPC ratio?
- Is the camp this one? http://www.tecumsehcouncilbsa.org/Camping/CampBirch/ If so (and even if not) does CASTLE rent the entire camp or only a set of cabins? AKA Am I going to have watch my step for boy scouts and dodge onlookers ogling my plate armor and asking me question?
- Is there any risk of the staff committing a quit coup on the owners or other such issues? Like if some of the married staff/owners get divorced could it break the game? I know we all like to think we are adults, but this has not been my experience. Is there like a charter or something in place to handle these sorts of situations?
- Have any events been canceled last minute? Like 20 people preregistered and then only 5 people show up and none are npc's?
- How flexible is plot with noncombatants? Also what exactly are the rules for noncombatants? I have honestly only skimmed the rules at this point and I COULD bring as many four other players around, but two are pretty strictly noncoms.
- What is the general power level of the bulk of PCs? Is it so far gone that as a new player I have ride another players coat tails just to stay alive and only get a single module/event the entire weekend due to low power level?
- Honestly, how cliquey is the bulk of the player base? Guilds, circles, gathers, etc.? This is not a deal breaker, it's a fact of life. If there are more than 10 players there is going to be at least one clique of 3 or more, but are they all cliques with 1 or 2 players left on the outside?
- I have in the past both NPC'd and staffed a larp. I tend to go all in one way or another. If I PC, I PC. If I NPC, I'm trying to get a staff/permanent npc position. That said does CASTLE have mandatory monster camp time and/or a path to staffdom?
Forgive my novella and hope to hear.
