I am inspired by yesterday's competitions and tournaments to put together a competition for the Snowden Festival. My contributions to the feast will need fresh fruit and vegetables. For those of you who have seen my wagon, you know that my window boxes are all filled with herbs. So, I make a competition with two categories, one for fruits and one for vegetables (by cooking use, not by plant type).
1. The fruits or vegetables must be fresh from your window-boxes/indoor pots.
2. The entries must be presented at the beginning of the festival.
3. Only one entry in each category per household.
If you are not sure what fruits and vegetables you can grow inside over the fall and winter, here are some ideas.
Vegetables: Peppers; Salad Greens; Chard; Carrots; Onions; Tomatoes, especially cherry types; Beans, Bush.
Fruits: Strawberries; Blueberries; Figs.
If you start soon, you will time to get seeds and cuttings from your neighbors and get fruits and vegetables in time, but you have to start soon!
Prizes? Of course!
